------------------------------
Wild winged ones of the western woods.
Willingly wisp and swoop on high.
Aether dreams of dreaming, while I stand by screaming.
Falling to my demise.
Perched up on a jagged cliff a nest so rare and crisp.
That I do shutter as I land.
Softness there.
Then a flirt and flutter I hear.
As the birds of prey come to peck my eyes.
Scampering backwards I reach the edge, where only darkness lies below.
Suddenly I see a weakening.
As I had hoped these were only nibblings, too my great surprise.
Never the-less dangerous but for now I must jump for my life.
Falling and flailing, head over heals and rump over wrists.
Darkness below, it beckons me so.
That I will never forgive the Miss.
Suddenly my fall is broken, as from something with an out reached token has saved my life.
Sticky and wet I am thrust to the left.
Just below the darkness shadow, a creature with eyes of ember phosphorescence.
Drawing nearer faster and faster I can only cower from this disaster.
When suddenly a shadow flows by, a shadow as black as pepper seasons.
Up I fall, wrapped in wetness still.
Upward towards the light of heaven and the aether-realm.
Bird of prey doth saved my life, for upon the ground he did lay my bones.
And up on my great awakening; I saw there before me the angels of the floating isles.
Metal wings with gears and steam, balanced up on a great ring.
Swooping and soaring while I returned to snoring, never to return from whence I came.
Aether realm upon high
Greatest of the worldly sky.
Chosen have I, plucked from the clutches below.
Ascended upon high, to the outreached sky.
-
I guess he is, among the most.
The only bird to come and sit upon the post.
Through the window I can see; he waits for me.
Grooming and pecking at his feet and making sure his feathers are neat.
Watches with a cock-eyed look, watching through my window nook.
Wondering and watching doth he.
Waiting for the day I may try to flee.
But for now I am cowered in my bed, for sickness doth contained-be in my weary head.
Illness from the Aether-Realm.
So Sleep doth consume my soul.
Back to dreams of the untold.
Colors of the grit and grime, rust and gold, silvery shine.
Epilogue:
Kyle von Krautstan has been on many adventures.
He has crossed many planes of existence, through time and space seeing many strange and wondrous things.
His adventure first started when he was seventeen.
His lover, Isabel, cast him into chasm (For reasons still unknown to him).
As Kyle plummeted deeper into darkness (certainly it would have been to his death) something unexplained (and almost magical within its own right) Happened.
Kyle was saved by a mythical Skyhawke.
A bird of legend shrouded in mystery and intrigue.
Taken upon high to the AEther Realm, Kyle, became very ill from the extremely high altitude.
While in and out of consciousness, Kyle, remembers the skyhawke being perched upon a post in the field outside his window nook.
It wasn't until, Kyle, took an extreme interest in their alchemy (and by a freak accident, mind you) learned how to travel throughout the worlds beyond the beyond.
After returning from another realm, Kyle, spoke of what he saw.
Word of this spread throughout the isles like wild fire.
Kyle was able to travel twice more to the same location, upon his final return he brought back a fruit.
As popularity grew among the people of the AEther Realm he was given the title; Athre'ghel.
Which roughly translated means 'Explorer of that which we cannot see'.
Year 1571 b.c.e.

Author's Notes:
This has to be by far my favorite piece.
I remember it so vividly, the day I had OpenOffice open and my hands ready to type.
It was something so natural and pure, as if someone upon high was whispering in my ear and guiding my hands.
I have often thought about making a full length story about the AEther Realm.
But, I believe describing such a place would not have the full effect or give such a wondrous place it's full spectrum upon it's readers.
