------------
(Two days before my birthday.)
It would have been a day like any other, except for the pungent smell in the air.
A chemical smell, dioxide, sulfur, brimstone.
The decaying leafs rotting as a putrid blanket upon the earth.
Bark, metal work, brick, tiles and flagstone seemed to bring on a life of their own as they slowly melt into the earth from which they came.
Forming puddles, pools and lakes of multi colored misshapen liquid chemical masses.
It was an agent of a brilliant and devious mind.
The purpose of this agent is simple. Cause great destruction upon the planet.
----
This person only cared about their reward.
But what was the use of money when an agent such as this destroyed everything money could buy?
His agenda was clear.
It was not for money or power, it was of sheer enjoyment.
----
My mother.
The reward justified the cause, but the cause was not justifiable. She would have done anything to keep her only daughter safe.
Destroy a planet, destroy its inhabitants.
All for the safety of one.
Selfishness is a very useful bargaining tool.
The earth became warm with the chemical activity.
Scorching everything that lived upon it.
Car tires meting to goo.
Paint began to boil.
Metal became like ambers in a fire.
Human brains and organs boiled and burst through eye sockets, rectums and epidermis tissue like a pressure cooker exploding.
The very essence of all living things evaporated and mingled in the air.
The sky became awash with a metallic blue, green and violet haze.
